business interruption insurance Insurance coverage that reimburses a business for lost income and at least a portion of the extra expenses involved in restoring a business to operation following a property loss.
Coverage can be expanded to include a variety of other problems, including loss of income caused by a property loss at a major supplier or customer. Also called loss of income insurance.
